Bill Monroe, an ex-officio member of the board, was born in Washington and moved when he was 10 years old. Following the passing of his wife he returned to his hometown in 2015. His career was spent in the newspaper field. He was Executive Director of the Iowa Newspaper Association for 29 years, managing two non-profits and one for-profit company with a staff of 23 people. Prior to that he was publisher of the Spencer Daily Reporter for five years and Editor of the Vinton Cedar Valley Daily Times for five years. He now serves as the Chamber’s Community Liaison. He beings decades of experience in the non-profit area to the board table as well as communication skills to the Chamber staff.
