Welcome, Deanna McCusker. The Washington City Council has unanimously approved the hire of Deanna McCusker as City Administrator. She will begin her tenure in Washington this month. Below is a message from McCusker:
Hello, Washington. I am overjoyed to have been offered the City Administrator position for the City of Washington. I look forward to becoming part of the great community of Washington and help guide the community in the direction it is headed. There are great projects coming soon and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
I have served as a city administrator in eastern Iowa for 14 years, most recently as the City Administrator of Cascade for seven years. In my career I’ve coordinated many capital projects including a new aquatic center, walking/biking trails, new wastewater treatment facility, new water tower, well house and distribution project, many street and stormwater projects and I’m proud of revitalizing the downtown.
The size of the community, the location with it being close to Iowa City and of course, the downtown square, drew me to Washington.
In my free time, I enjoy antiquing, spending time with family, attending community events, and visiting wineries and breweries.
As I settle into this position, I look forward to getting to know the people of Washington.
