Live Performance by Bob Dorr and the Limestoners 6
It’s hard to believe that it’s been FOUR YEARS since Bob Dorr brought his Iowa Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame and Iowa Blues Hall of Fame band, The Blue Band, to the Show Lounge for the final weekend of performances (Jan.12-13 2018). And now, it’s equally hard to believe (for him!) that Bob is back to The Show Lounge Stage to celebrate his 70th birthday! (Bob promises to bring a fire extinguisher in case the candles on that cake get out of hand!) Starting his 45th year of band leading (and 50th as an Iowa Public Radio and Television personality) Bob’s bringing along his guitar playing sidekick of 40 years, Jeff Petersen; The Blue Band’s horn section leader, Nolan Schroeder; and Des Moines multi-instrumentalist Buddy Franklin to anchor what promises to be an Iowa music All-Star band. When asked if he’d like to add any “particular special guest” to the list of musicians invited to jam through the night, Dorr’s response was “How about Chef Zeph?” (Riverside Executive Chef Zephaniah Leaton) Apparently Bob’s known Chef Zeph since The Chef was a pre-teenage guitar player who used to tag along with his dad going to Blue Band gigs in the early 1990s! So, Chef Zeph has agreed to dust off his axe and get ready to cook up some tasty licks on a few tunes! (Zeph has also promised to personally have a hand in making the birthday cake!) Expect to see/hear many of Bob’s musical friends from his long career as a band leader in Iowa, helping him mark 70 trips around the Sun.
