WASHINGTON, IOWA — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Washington’s Ridiculous Days is the state’s longest running such event and it will be held again this year for the 73rd time. The three-day celebration has been modified due to COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions but there will still be plenty of fun, shopping bargains and activities to enjoy. Here is the schedule:
Thursday, June 4: 2 p.m.: Live Show featuring Washington retailers on the Washington Chamber of Commerce Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WashingtonIowaChamber/. Sidewalk sales around the square begin at 9 a.m.
Friday, June 5: Sidewalk sales continue. Live music events on the Washington Chamber of Commerce Facebook page will stream online sponsored by Federation Bank. The online live music will end with a performance by James Crossroads, the local acoustic quartet at 7 p.m. A Cash Mob sponsored by Washington State Bank will be held at JP’s 207 where a limited number of diners will receive Cash Mob Bucks to be used to help pay for their meals.
Saturday, June 6, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Sidewalk sales around the square. A Cash Mob sponsored by Washington State Bank will be held at the Village where a limited number of shoppers will receive Cash Mob Bucks to be used to help pay for their items.
1:30-3:30 p.m.: Antique Tractor Parade sponsored by Sinclair Tractor and parking spots to see the tractor ride include the fairgrounds, high schools, the old Whitesell building, VTI, Immanuel Lutheran Church, the downtown square, Sunset Park, the city pool and the Washington Community Theater.
Those wishing to be in the parade should line up at the fairgrounds with spacing of six feet apart. Candy is discouraged. Keep a distance of six feet between you and the crowd during the parade route. Only motorized vehicles will be allowed in the parade. Avoid groups of 10 or more if you are watching the parade.
