Nestled in a beautiful rural setting near Lockridge on 300 acres in Jefferson County is Whitetail Country Estates, a perfect setting for weddings, receptions, special occasions, retreats, hunting and lodging.
Bill and Zana Huber purchased the property, a former church camp for kids, in 2010 and Zana immediately began the process of transforming the buildings on the grounds, one by one, to what they have become today. Whitetail Country Estates finally opened in 2014 with two weddings being held and the following year there were 26 weddings.
The facilities include a Vintage Barn, which was built in the 1880’s, a Rehearsal Hall, a pergola by a pond with a fountain as a backdrop for outdoor wedding ceremonies, a Bridal Cottage and the Whitetail Lodge.
Zana’s eye for beauty and her imagination and drive have made the facility what it is today, “along with the help of very good employees”, Zana said. A video on the venue’s website, www.whitetailcountryestates.com, shows off the facility by highlighting a couple’s wedding experience there.
“The Vintage Barn was leaning three feet to one side when the property was purchased”, Zana said. It had to be lifted off the ground so new footings could be poured along with a new floor. The entire interior was power washed, stained and all the wood carefully decorated. It is used for receptions and other activities and can seat 200 guests inside the barn and lean-to area plus tent options. It is heated and air conditioned and features 14 chandeliers and tulle. It has brand new restrooms with doors that look like horse stalls to match the old barn’s style.
The Whitetail Lodge can sleep up to 27 guests and has six restrooms. The 5,000 square foot structure has a wrap-around deck with vintage lights, a walkout basement patio, a full kitchen, great room, three double queen suites, two bunk rooms, laundry facilities, entertainment and game rooms. Zana said it’s a popular location for the wedding party at weddings or for family reunions, retreats or for hunters.
The Bridal Cottage has a salon in the lower level with six chairs and sleeps up to 12 guests in the bride’s party. The night of the wedding is usually reserved for the bride and groom only.
What is now the Rehearsal Hall was built in 2005 and has been remodeled for wedding rehearsal dinners and can seat up to 80 guests.
