Ambassador Treasurer Elainie Turner, left and Vice President Angela Langstraat (right) congratulate Past President Janelle Johnson upon her completing two terms as Ambassador President. Langstraat said she serves as an Ambassador because she enjoys meeting new business leaders and making them feel welcome to Washington. Johnson said the purpose of the Ambassadors is to help find a way for businesses to be successful and to be a resource for them initially and in the future. Wilson said she got involved to get her firm’s name recognized more in the public and to find a way to connect with more business people. This year’s president is Ashley Wilson (not pictured).
The members of the Washington Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors were kept very busy in 2019 reflecting the growing economy of Washington. The Ambassadors attended 53 events including 36 ribbon cuttings, new location celebrations, grand openings, ground breakings, launches, renovations and 16 Alive After 5 networking events.
The Ambassadors serve as representatives of the Chamber and goodwill ambassadors welcoming new businesses to the area and making Chamber special events possible. They represent the Washington community and the surrounding area and are goodwill “ambassadors” for the local Chamber of Commerce. They are usually the most outgoing, pro-active employees in their company. They project a positive image for the company they represent and for the Chamber. Being an Ambassador is an opportunity for you and your employer to be in the spotlight. The local newspaper publishes each ribbon cutting for new businesses.
Joining the Ambassadors gives your company publicity as a supporter of new businesses coming to the area and of your Chamber of Commerce. It is a great opportunity to have a few minutes of fun and network with other movers and shakers in the community. By volunteering at Chamber events and attending the quarterly luncheons as an Ambassador, your business is always involved and kept up to date on what is going on within the community and surrounding area. The luncheon programs are informative and helpful to you as a business person. It takes teamwork to help create jobs and bring new business to the community. By serving as an Ambassador, you are showing you are a part of that team to infuse new life into the local economy and make our Chamber and its members successful!
