Dodici Night Suites History

The Dodici Night Suites began with one apartment, located above Dodici’s Shop, now called the “Family Suite,” rented out by the night. Complete with two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and living room, the Family Suite has hosted our guests since 2006. As our downtown square flourished with renovations, beautification, and new retail stores, demand for an overnight stay on the square increased. We decided to meet this need by creating three more suites, located above Cafe Dodici. We started with the King Suite, a two bedroom suite that offers a King size bed and a Queen size, with a full bathroom and cozy living room space. A couple years later we added the Queen suite (two bedrooms each offering a queen size bed and a bathroom) and the Bella Vista Suite (one bedroom with Queen size bed and a living room and kitchen with a gorgeous view of the square, hence the name of the suite).

The additional three suites were created out of our second floor space that had been neglected for decades and needed a lot of renovation, including the installation of plumbing and electricity. We maintained the historical feel and quality of the building by closely following guidelines set out by Main Street Iowa, who generously awarded us with grants to use on these projects.

Our goal has always been to invest in Washington, particularly our downtown, and to encourage locals and tourists alike to appreciate what this town has to offer. Over the years we have hosted guests from all over the US and the world, as well as many local residents enjoying a “staycation” on the square.

Our next project involves adding more lodging on the third floors of both buildings – let the adventure begin!
