The Washington Chamber of Commerce Educator Breakfast Committee decided February 3 to add another event in addition to the Educator Appreciation Breakfast the Chamber holds in August as a back to school kick off. The Chamber now plans to have a Teacher Night Out where teachers can enjoy appetizers and drinks and also restock their supply closets for the rest of the year.
Our 40 sponsors will be set up with booths at this winter event to distribute supplies. Due to the COVID pandemic the event could not be held this year, so the committee decided to deliver the top three supplies needed to the schools.
The Chamber partnered with Walmart to order sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizer and Kleenex for St. James, Stewart, Lincoln, Middle School, and High School. Walmart donated extra big hand sanitizers as an added bonus. All schools said hand sanitizer has been the most needed product this year, and they were happy to have this restocked.
The Chamber hopes to do the inaugural Teacher Night Out next winter 2022.
