Marques Morel is a Midwestern American singer/songwriter, guitarist/harmonica-wailer, street-performer/wandering minstrel, woodcutter/woodworker, poet/author, and a friend to all. Originally from the Illinois corn country, Marques has performed everywhere from big city street corners around the world, to county fairs and festivals, hole-in-the-wall bars, listening rooms, and theaters. He has shared the stage with notable artists such as Charlie Parr, Arlo McKinley, The Hooten Hallers, Lillie Mae, and Jared Nieman to name a few.With roots running deep in the music of old America, Morel’s sound is thick with the nostalgic elements of vintage country, delta blues, dust bowl folk and the Texas Troubadour tradition. His interpretations of namesakes such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Townes Van Zandt and Colter Wall are unique and refreshing, while his original music feels humble and familiar in its lyricism and relatability.
