  • The Washington County Freedom Rock Park is one of Iowa’s Freedom Rock locations. A place to visit, learn and honor the rich military history and service of ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things.

    The park features the Washington County Freedom Rock, which was unveiled on June 16, 2018. The rock’s stunning artwork was completed by artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II. Sorensen first began painting Freedom Rocks in 1999 and has since worked to install a piece in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
