The high demand for COVID-19 testing has required Washington County Hospital and Clinics to make changes to the COVID-19 Wellness Testing program offered locally. WCHC’s COVID-19 Wellness Testing program is for individuals who are asymptomatic but are concerned of exposure or past exposure. While it remains imperative for WCHC to provide COVID-19 testing to the general public, priority testing will be reserved for patients who are symptomatic and require a physician visit, present ill to the Emergency Room, hospitalized on the inpatient unit, and surgical patients.
Beginning Wednesday, November 25th, appointments will be required for individuals who would like a COVID-19 Wellness test. The Wellness Testing program at WCHC provides individuals an opportunity to pay out-of-pocket for an antigen or antibody COVID-19 test. These tests are meant to ease the mind of individuals who do not have symptoms but are concerned of exposure. WCHC can accommodate 18 wellness tests each day, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Cost of the COVID-19 Wellness Test is $125, due at time of service. To schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 Wellness Test call, (319) 653-5481. If you are currently experiencing symptoms, you are encouraged to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider by calling (319) 653-7291.
COVID-19 Wellness Test results will not be available to patients at the time of testing. Individuals will be asked to vacate the premises immediately after testing in accordance with social distancing practices in place at WCHC. All testing results will be posted to the individual’s secure patient portal and will be available within 24 hours. Results will be reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health and patients with positive results may be contacted by the local Public Health Department. After receiving your test results via the patient portal, questions regarding precautions and guidance should be addressed by the local Public Health Department, (319) 653-7758, ext 3. For the most up-to-date information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals are encouraged to call the state’s hotline, 2-1-1.
