Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Program
January 20 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeWashington for Justice and the Washington Public Library are sponsoring a Second Annual MLK Commemoration Day. We will be remembering and honoring the work of the great Civil Rights Leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The evening will include a “Tough Conversation” with two Iowa authors who write about racism and white supremacy in America: Mr. Dave Markward, author of ““From Dubuque to Selma and Beyond: My Journey to Understand Racism in America” and Mr. Steven Berry, author of “T.E.A.R.S” a novel about growing up in Iowa as an African American. Steven is also a film producer. The conversation will be moderated by Daniel Henderson, local resident, author and Director of Washington for Justice. These three men are doing a series of events across the state of Iowa, seeking greater understanding and healing of the racial divide. Join us for a fascinating and inspiring evening.
