Weary Ramblers
February 23 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
The newly-formed Iow folk duo, Weary Ramblers, will bring their years of experience to the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center stage. Iowa Folk Duo, Chad Elliot and Kathryn Fox, present multi-instrumental performances with tight harmonies and great storytelling.
Lauded as Iowa’s Renaissance Man by Culture Buzz Magazine, Chad Elliott delivers an original
sound in his two-plus decades of being on the road and sharing the stage with fellow artists of
the highest caliber. He has penned more than 1,500 songs in his career while also cultivating
his skills as a painter, sculptor, illustrator and author. Deemed “fiddler extraordinaire” by
Cityview Magazine, Kathryn Severing Fox has toured internationally, played on a Grammy-
nominated track, performed in PBS specials, and worked with such recognizable artists as The
Beach Boys, The Eagles, Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins, and Pharrell Williams. Together, they
have spent seven weeks at number one on the Contemporary Folk Album chart, had their
album ranked among the top folk albums, and had songs rank in the top ten on folk album
charts—including having one of their songs, “Pretty Lights of Denver” hit number one on the
Contemporary Folk Song chart, overall Folk Song chart, and the Iowa Song chart!
Fans of folk music will surely enjoy every moment of the show, appreciating Elliott’s own love of
folk, roots and singer-songwriter music. As Smithsonian Folkway Recordings mused, “That
man’s music is as honest as was Woody Guthrie’s.” Cityview Magazine asked, “When listening
to Fox for the first time, one might wonder, how can a young woman make a violin sound so
good?” Her time touring Europe, the United States, and Canada with fiddle troupe Barrage 8
and working with such a wide variety of artists have undoubtedly added so much to her
performance style, and she is a DownBeat award winner herself.
Tickets may be purchased online at washingtonauditorium.org or at the door. Adults are $20,
college students are $10, and youth eighteen and under are free. The performance will begin
at 3:30 pm. Doors open one hour before the performance.
