The search is open for a new Main Street Washington Director. The Board of Directors is seeking a full-time dynamic, outgoing team-player to serve as the next Executive Director in Washington, Iowa. The program has been in existence since 2008 and has spurred over $15 million in development in the restoration and rehabilitation of downtown buildings and filling vacancies. Main Street Washington has been able to leverage grant funding to improve downtown, while adding upper story housing units, new infill construction, and attracting new retail and service businesses to the district. Main Street Washington also leads the charge on the holiday activities in downtown Washington each November and December, in addition to other events year-round including the Farmers Market in Central Park held weekly in the summer.
The next director will need to have experience or education in fundraising/finance, volunteer recruitment, historic preservation, urban design, marketing, economic development, special event planning, small business development, and/or management experience. A focus for the new director will be to establish annual fundraising to maintain a viable program. Salary range for this full-time position is $36,000-$40,000 per year (depending on qualifications) plus benefits including IPERS retirement benefits, medical and dental insurance, life insurance, short/long term disability, and holiday, paid time off including vacation.
