With school back in session, it is important for drivers to set good examples for their students, especially when it comes to parking in or near school zones.
There are several No Parking areas near the schools that prohibit parking from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on school days, these prohibited areas are for the safety of the students and to allow for the safe flow of school buses and drop-off/pick-up traffic.
Cooperation in avoiding these No Parking areas is appreciated and violations could result in a $25 parking ticket.
New Parking Violation Penalties
The City Council has amended the City Ordinance related to parking restrictions. Effective September 8, 2022, violations of parking restrictions may result in a fine of $25. Violation of a persons with disabilities parking permit is $100. If such fines are not paid within thirty (30) days, the fine shall be increased by $5.
