Notice of Special City Election – August 6, 2024

NOTICE OF ELECTION

Notice is hereby given to the eligible voters in the  City of Washington, Washington County, Iowa, that a Special City Election will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, for the office and candidates on the ballot published herewith.

The polls for said elections will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

For the City of Washington – The City Ward polling places and addresses for this election are as follows: City Wards 1 and 2* – Washington Community Y, 520 W. 5^th St., Washington and City Wards 3 and 4** – Washington County Fairgrounds, 611 S HWY 1, Washington.

*Notice of polling place change: The City Wards 1 and 2 have been consolidated for this election, and voters in those Wards will vote at the Washington Community Y, 520 W. 5th St., Washington.

**Notice of polling place change: The City Wards 3 and 4 have been consolidated for this election, and voters in those Wards will vote at the Washington County Fairgrounds, 611 S HWY 1, Washington.

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on election day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by August 12 at noon. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification.
