Washington, Iowa — November 4, 2019
Trick-or-Treat Around the Square was a success despite the cold wintery weather this year. While the hay rack ride had to be cancelled, all the other activities went off as planned for the youngsters that participated in the fun.
Over two hundred free hot dog meals were distributed on third floor of the YMCA. Ten businesses handed out candy to kids on the first floor of the Y. There were free pony rides, games, a photo booth and more in the Y’s gym. A new addition to this year’s festivities was a Facebook Costume Contest for children up to 12 years old. Three winners with the most likes on Facebook will claim 3 spooky prize baskets with gifts from Washington State Theater, McDonald’s, Earthly Blessings and The Village.
Employees from Elliott Realty Group & New Attitude Tanning Salon & Spa dressed as characters from the musical “Grease” and performed dances every half hour during the evening. These businesses were the winners of our 2019 Business Costume Contest.
