Washington Walmart Supercenter Remodel Includes Grocery Pickup

New features allow customers to save time and choose how they shop

Washington, Iowa – October 21, 2019 – Washington residents will get their first look at the newly remodeled Walmart Supercenter at 2485 IA-92 on Friday, November 8 at 8 a.m. as the much-anticipated project is complete. Headlining the remodel is the launch of the grocery pickup service.

Grocery Pickup is a free service that enables customers to order groceries online and pick them up at their local Walmart store without even leaving their cars. The service features 30,000 items with more than 90 percent of customers choosing to add fresh meat, dairy or produce to their baskets. Other top items selected by grocery pickup shoppers include after-school snacks, diapers and large dog food bags. All items are priced at the same low prices customers find in their local Walmart store.

Customers will also enjoy the following store improvements:

• State-of-the-art electronics department with interactive displays
• New tool department with a new look and added variety of tools
• Self-checkouts at the front of the store to save customers time
• Enhanced baby department with strollers at floor level
• Walmart Pickup conveniently located at the front of the store

Investing in Iowa

Walmart announced earlier this year it expects to spend an estimated $37.2 million over the next year in Iowa through the remodeling of seven stores, as well as the launch and continued expansion of several customer-focused innovations, including Pickup Towers.
