The City of Washington is preparing for a major project to create a paved route from Highway 1 to the southwest side of town, including Washington High School.
This year’s project is the paving of West Buchanan Street from the Wastewater Plant road to South Avenue E. This final stage has been envisioned and worked toward in various projects since 2012. The $2.6 million project will be funded primarily with state and federal grant funding, as an integral part of the City’s collector street network. The project will also accomplish Phase 2 of the Washington Business Park, opening up 8 additional industrial-zoned lots for future development, contributing to the growth of jobs and tax base in our community. The project is expected to start as early as the beginning of summer 2021.
