Dr. Rietveld (Professor Emeritus of History at California State University-Fullerton) will be giving a presentation on his discovery of a photograph of Abraham Lincoln lying in state which should not have existed and a conversation he had with one of the last persons to see Abraham Lincoln’s body.

Brown Bag Lecture Series – Three Short Object Biographies from the Harlan-Lincoln House Collection
Spencer Barton (new director of the Harlan-Lincoln House) will present on the “lives lived” among three objects found in the Harlan-Lincoln House’s collection: an algebra book used by Abraham “Jack” Lincoln, grandson of Abraham Lincoln, the main stairway banister, and a pair of utensil urns.

Michael Huston will present on the makers of Company C of the 19th Iowa’s colors, the general role of the color guard, their involvement in the Battle of Prairie Grove, and the experimental archaeology work he and his team preformed in remaking the colors and flagstaff.
