Washington, Iowa — October 25, 2019
The Chamber hosted Choctoberfest for the first time downtown Washington on Thursday, October 17th. There were 20 businesses that participated in this event, and at each location was a unique chocolate treat for participants to sample. The business owners handed out chocolate passports to guide attendees to each location for samples, and the Chamber collected over 250 passports at the event. Out of the passports submitted, two lucky winners were drawn to claim two beautiful Downtown Washington-themed gift baskets. The downtown was filled with ladies girls night groups to couples enjoying a date night and families strolling streets with giggling children, all joined together sharing a love for chocolate.
The next event , Trick-or-Treat Around the Square is coming up on Halloween, Thursday, October 31st, in downtown
Washington. Businesses will again be set up with candy for children to fill their treat bags. The countdown to Trick-or-Treat starts at 5 p.m. on the square with spooky music from KCII’s Big Red Radio to start the party. Free events like Pony rides, hay rack rides, games, photo booth and more will be happening at the YMCA from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A free hot dog meal will be served on the 3rd floor of the YMCA, for those that want more than just candy on Halloween. You can submit a photo of your child in costume on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/2358259324440258/ and the top 3 most liked photos will win prize baskets filled with gifts from The Village, Earthly Blessings, Washington State Theater, and McDonalds.
