Member Update on Smouse House/Captain’s Table
The Washington Chamber Board of Director’s would like to thank everyone who attended the membership informational meetings on October 7. There was a lot of great discussion, good questions were raised, and the board came away with a few pointers that have strengthened the possibility of this project. The overwhelming response from our members was in favor of moving forward on the pursuit of rehabbing the Smouse House/Captain’s Table. There were valid concerns that the board will be addressing, most specifically, to make sure we have accurate quotes from our local contractors and we are able to secure the funding needed. With that in mind, the Chamber Board is exploring a purchase option for the Smouse House Building that will allow us to do some more research on the structure of the building and we will begin applying for grant and funding options
We have received many positive comments and feedback about the importance of this building to our members and the community. If you have an interest in helping us move forward with this project, please contact Chamber Director Michelle Redlinger. We will need expertise in rehabilitation, grant writing and community purpose. Those who would be interested in writing a letter of support that can accompany our grant applications are encouraged to send their letter to Michelle at the Chamber.
The board has made a commitment to act judiciously with the Chamber resources and we are thankful for your support.
