WASHINGTON, IOWA August 24th, 2020 — The Washington Chamber of Commerce held the 19th Annual Educator Appreciation Breakfast for the Washington Community School District on Tuesday, August 18th. The Educator Breakfast committee and volunteers brought biscuits and gravy from Four Corners Fuel & Gas, breakfast burritos and iced coffee from McDonald’s and fruit and OJ from Hy-Vee to staff at Washington Community Schools, Washington Regional Kirkwood Community College, and St. James.
All teachers and staff had new t-shirts waiting for them in their mailboxes that read “Stronger Together”. The shirts were made locally from Custom Impressions. On the back of the shirts was the list of all 38 business sponsors for this event. Washington State Bank created a special teacher themed present for all staff as the Gift Sponsor for the event.
The landscape for school this year looks different than previous years, due to COVID-19. Washington Schools have implemented new protocol to make our children safe, in addition to teaching our youth. The community businesses, Educator Breakfast committee and volunteers gave their gratitude to our educators for going above and beyond in a year unlike any other.
