The Washington Economic Development Group partners with new and existing businesses in Washington County to promote an environment of sustained economic development, thereby making Washington County a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
To this end, we wish to support those seeking to develop skills that will return to Washington County for employment, add value to our community, and support our mission of creating a thriving economy.
For 2024, WEDG will award three $1200 scholarships to eligible area students planning to pursue a trade-related degree at an Iowa community college or technical school. Applications are due by Friday, March 15, 2024.
Scholarship Requirements:
Open to all Washington County High School Seniors.
Must be a US Citizen or hold a Permanent Resident Card.
Students must plan to attend an accredited Iowa community college or technical school.
Intend to return to Washington County for employment after graduation.
Scholarship Provisions:
Scholarship dollars will be paid 50% at the beginning of each the fall and spring term.
Funds will be paid directly to the school and may be used for tuition, books, and class/material fees.
If an applicant misrepresents themselves or leaves school mid-term, WEDG will seek reimbursement of the scholarship funds awarded.
Children of WEDG directors and staff are eligible to apply.
